The Legend of the Winterking: The Crown of Nandur
A FANTASY-ADVENTURE FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE DARK HOLLOWS MYSTERY SERIES!
It is the end of the Age of Rome, and the beginning of a story that will last forever.
The story of a hero named Krin, whose flight from Roman Legionnaires takes him to a strange and wondrous land deep in the the wilds of Germania.
The story of the mysterious valley called Thana Pel, where the Magi of old stand watch at the chasm that separates the world we know from the world we only dream of...The land of Wyndter, the realm of the Fae.
The story of the quest to find the Crown of Nandur--the last remains of a majestic and ancient creature, as old as the world itself--a talisman that can bind the worlds together, and awaken an army of long dead dragons, buried deep in the heart of Thana Pel.
To save our world from the evil schemes of renegade magus Sair'n Kryl, Krin, accompanied by a rag-tag band of unlikely heroes, must recover the Crown of Nandur before the gates of Wyndter open, and the world of mankind is subjugated by the dark faery empire of the Winterking.
What a refreshingly unique story. This book is an epic fantasy with elements of secret history. The story combines German legends of Kris Kringle with biblical accounts of the Magi, and rounding it all out with Elves, dwarves and goblins. This may sound like a soup that doesn't mix, but nothing feels out of place or forced. The book is populated with interesting and likable characters - even those who begin as non-sympathetic players. This book is part of a trilogy, but rather then 3 books, it is

The first Winterking book, The Crown of Nandur, took me some time to get into, I've not been into fantasy novels for years, and there was a lot of talk about the inclusion of Christianity that some people in their reviews complained about, honestly making me hesitant, because Christianity is fine and good for Christians, but not many people I know want a preachy book disguised as a "sword and sorcery" novel. ( I still picked it up because I enjoyed Kent's book with Jeremy Robinson, Guardian, the

A bit heavy-handed with the religious themes, which really didn't seem to mesh well with the gnomes and drow and whatnot. But it was an interesting story with colorful characters, and the suspenseful ending left me wanting to know what happens in the next book. What a refreshingly unique story.
