Počevši s čitanjem reklo bi se da ćemo u romanu pratiti uobičajenu priču o mladom intelektualcu, umjetniku, kakvu smo vidjeli u već tisuću različitih verzija s varijacijama. Ali, Pavličić nas samo uspijeva odvući na pogrešan trag. U romanu se radi o mladom umjetniku Mihovilu koji nije poseban samo po tome što radi izvanredne slike, već što radi izvanredne falsifikacije slika i dokumenata tako da je praktički nemoguće otkriti da se uopće radi o falsifikatu. Pristojan roman do pred kraj. Međutim, ako mu i progledamo kroz prste za Mihovila-proroka, što je, poznavajuć autorovu osobnost, vjerojatnije aluzija na političku zbilju nego na nekakve mahnite američke osobenjake s ceste, ostaje činjenica da je sam završetak toliko pretenciozno i nepovezano i s čim nakalemljen da mi je umanjio i dojam neloših dvjesto osamdeset stranica koje mu prethode.
