I really liked the characters, the plot and the author's writing style in Macabre Tales. While reading each story I was able to see a mental movie in my imagination about what happened with the characters and each of such movies was really interesting. I liked that each story had a captivating idea behind it and had many interesting twists. I liked this collection of tales and can certainly recommend it.Tony Thorne's "Macabre Tales" is an eclectic collection of short stories. I don't usually read from this genre, but to me it felt like Edgar Allen Poe. Very interesting little tales that make you think about things. My favorite tale is "Micro-Voices" which involves a character like the host of "Unsolved Mysteries." Thorne just has a way of turning things on their head. A great quick read that stays with you.
Speculative stories like Macabre Tales makes a person think. As it is entertaining as fiction with logic and elements of fiction, it brings to question the idea of fear. Whether the character is fearful in the story or the reader senses the danger to which an ignorant character does not feel, there is a common theme of control.
