As some people already commented it was a tedious compilation of "be careful of what you wish for?" stories. My biggest problem with this book was its character George, OMG I hate him. I mean, a lot of books have hideous characters but this was unbearable. In the introduction, Mr. Asimov warns the reader that you may find the style "un-Asimovian." This certainly is true, but not for the worse. The stories are humorous satires, and incredibly delightful. If you pick this up because you're a fan of Asimov, and his prolific science-fiction, don't be surprised that it's nothing like "I, Robot."But if you pick this up because you want some humorous stories wherein the author even makes fun of himself, you'll be as please as it as I was.
The title character is a two-centimeter tall demon who belongs to George, a friend of the narrator (Asimov). George can get Azazel to d things - but only for friends of his, in order to achieve his own selfish desires. Somehow, most of these efforts go awry. The eighteen stories, originally published in magazines, but collected with a new introduction by the author in a book, are not well remembered except as a diverting light entertainment.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐[6/10]Isaac Asimov should be sued for plagiarism. Pfft.. Never mind. Especially when the supposed plaintiff is a moron. George Bitternut - you will learn of his ancestry(and how Betterknut became Bitternut), won't you? In this series of short stories, we are told that Bitternut has learnt the arcane art of summoning Azazel , who is⚫A demon.⚫A good-natured demon. It wreaks havoc on people's lives. And... their lives take a turn for the worse. Worse how?1 The Two-centimetre Demon: A
It was definitely for the best that most of these stories had a number of days between reading them. I liked the character of Azazel and I understood the satire,,, but I didn't feel it much.
Didn't think I could rate anything by Asimov so low, but I was just bored by them. None of the stories got me hooked, none amazed, none made me as much as smirk. I think maybe they were better suited in their own time, but today they don't live up to my expectations.
