Be Specific About Books Supposing The Awful German Language / Die schreckliche deutsche Sprache

i loved this .. this a very funny book by mark twain and a pretty short read too it only took me an hour to finish in it he enlists some of the reasons learning german can be a real challenge he made note that there's acase where you add an e after words and this i had no idea about --Hilarious.A culture as rich, intelligent, and fascinating as Germany will of course have a language just as complex and sharing the roots of many Indo-Aryan languages such as the ever-confusing, all-conjugative Sanskrit.Reading this short essay, I found myself nodding in agreement all throughout. That Dative case German seems to love is a pain in the kriff! Those conjugates? Ohmygodtheydonteven makealickofsense. I really have no idea how the language evolved to be like this, but Twain showed us
This is HILARIOUS! Everyone who's ever tried to learn German or even succeeded in it should read this, you'll have a good laugh. Even though I've grown to love German over the last year, a lot of the things he described are still my daily struggle in this language, and it was so funny to read someone point out some of the most absurd things that sometimes make my blood boil. (I'm looking at you, separable verbs.) I'm honestly still laughing at this, it was one of the best comedy texts I've ever
Q:To continue with the German genders: a tree is male, its buds are female, its leaves are neuter; horses are sexless, dogs are male, cats are female, Tom-cats included, of course; a persons mouth, neck, bosom, elbows, fingers, nails, feet, and body are of the male sex, and his head is male or neuter according to the word selected to signify it, and not according to the sex of the individual who wears it, for in Germany all the women wear either male heads or sexless ones; a persons nose, lips,
As an "Ausländer" in Germany, I find this hilarious. I liked some of the suggestions made by the author, but I'm sure that won't be happening anytime soon.
This is a really funny essay.I've started learning German recently and I can empathize with the writer here. But what bothered me was the fact that I could not understand half of the German text in the book.I've a long way to go. I guess I'll return to this essay when I finish learning the language.
Loved it! I was laughing at every turn of the page. I want to say that Mark Twain's intention of writing this book is not to belittle German language but to let others know how unnecessarily complicated the language is for a foreigner to learn. And after reading the book, I quite agree that German would be hard to learn compared to other languages. Mark Twain gives an awful lot of good and funny examples to make this point. I will put some examples from the book here and you'll understand: To
