The writing was great and pulled me in (there were a few editing hiccups here and there, but nothing to throw me out of the storyobviously since I stayed up way to late reading this) the characters were well rounded and each with their own distinct personality. The way he wove historical events in and gave them other reasons for happening was absolutely masterful. The science fiction elements were plausible and made perfect sense in the book. I loved the little details like when the Flintstones
I found this book really enjoyable. The melding of the historical facts with the fictional happening was masterful. I enjoyed following the character of Justin from a young boy to adulthood and even his sons involvement in the final acts. There was some technical problem with the writing in a few places like the typewriter got stuck and made a paragraph or two hard to read but I was able to decipher it. It might be something that needs looked at. Loved the pet Rex. All in all a good read.
I'm torn between four and five stars. Finally I decided to give four stars. Loved this book. Enjoyed the mix of sci-fi and real events. The story begins when seven-year-old Justin Spencer sneaks out on the balcony roof one night to see if he can catch a glimpse of Sputnik, the first satellite ever launched. What Justin sees instead is the crash of a UFO in the woods near his house. Michael Drakich's tale of the capture and imprisonment of the survivors of the UFO crash draws a strong parallel with the famous reports of the crash of an unidentified flying object on a
This is a fantastic book! What starts out as an homage to the science fiction movies of the drive-in era, quickly changes and evolves into a decades spanning space epic. The story revolves around the repeated contacts between Earth and an alien race, and is set to the backdrop of the real life birth and growth of our own space travel programs. My favourite aspect of the book was the relationship forged between Kraanox (an alien, in case the name didnt tip you off) and Justin Spence (a seven year
